As many of you know, the iPhone 12, 12 Pro, and iPad Air 4 results have been officially posted onto GeekBench 5. Despite both having the A14 chip, the iPad Air's multicore performance is almost 300 points higher than the 12 Pro, and the metal performance is over 3000 points higher. I have heard reasons such as that the iPad Air has larger surface area to disperse heat so it can sustain high performance longer, to Apple actually underclocking the A14 on iPhone 12 due to heat concerns. It could also just be early trial errors, such as running the tests right after setting the phone up. However, when you look at the recent results, the iPad Air consistently scores higher on the multi-core than iPhone 12. Any thoughts? Is Apple cutting the performance short for iPhones?
