On June 11, Sony revealed the PlayStation 5 (PS5) with a lot of game reveals. Digital Foundry — known for its in-depth analyses of resolution and frame rate for many titles — provided commentary on the show for roughly 90 minutes. The team discussed various resolution and frame rate targets for PS5 games like Spider-Man: Miles Morales and Ratchet and Clank: Rift Apart.

You can take a look at the expected frames per second (FPS) for many PS5 reveal games below.

30 FPS

  • Ratchet and Clank: Rift Apart|30 FPS
  • Stray|30 FPS
  • Returnal|30 FPS
  • Destruction Allstars|Probably 30 FPS
  • Demon's Souls|30 FPS, but may offer 60 FPS mode
  • Horizon: Forbidden West|Probably 30 FPS

60 FPS

  • Gran Turismo 7|60 FPS
  • Sackboy: A Big Adventure|60 FPS
  • Godfall|60 FPS
  • Astro's Playroom|60 FPS
  • Resident Evil VIII: Village|Probably 60 FPS

Digital Foundry noted that some games appeared to employ dynamic resolution that lowered the visual quality to around 1500p, while maintaining performance. Many games were also native 4K instead of checkerboarded 4K found on PlayStation 4 Pro.

The team said that Sony appears to be targeting 30 FPS with increased visual quality for the PS5, while Microsoft seems to be focusing on 60 FPS and 120 FPS frame rates.
